A Nottingham NWoBHM band that have been cited by METALLICA as an early influence, the roots of PARALEX trace back to the 1978 act TOKIO ROSE, a band comprising of bassist Tony Speakman, drummer Tim Bowler, guitarists Nigel Revell and Howard Ccooper and singer Nick Shipley.
In their short period together TOKIO ROSE replaced Nigel Revell with Mick Hartshorn before the group split, with Speakman joining SOVEREIGN and Bowler joining Grantham act OVERLORD. With SOVEREIGN's demise Speakman joined PARALEX, replacing Ian Dobbs.
